SG Child Support Package: Up to S$62,000 per Singapore Citizen Child, Payouts from April 2027
Singapore’s new SG Child Support Package will benefit eligible Singapore Citizen children aged 17 and below, with the first payouts beginning in April 2027. The package provides up to S$62,000 in support over a child’s growing years, but that amount is not a single S$62,000 cash payment: it combines cash benefits, Child Development Account support and a Post-Secondary Education Account top-up.
What is included in the SG Child Support Package?
For a Singapore Citizen child born from 1 April 2027 onwards, the full package can include:
- S$10,000 Baby Gift in cash;
- S$2,000 in Child Credits each year from age 1 to 16, up to S$32,000;
- S$5,000 CDA First Step Grant;
- Government dollar-for-dollar CDA co-matching of up to S$5,000;
- S$10,000 PSEA top-up at age 17.
Together, these components can amount to up to S$62,000. The co-matching element requires eligible parental savings into the CDA, so it should not be described as an automatic S$5,000 cash payment.
When will payments start?
Payments start from April 2027.
Until then, eligible younger children can continue to receive benefits under the existing Baby Bonus Scheme. Children already enrolled in Baby Bonus will transition automatically to the new package.
Who is eligible?
The SG Child Support Package is for eligible Singapore Citizen children aged 17 and below.
Unlike the existing system, support under the new package is intended to provide the same level of package support regardless of birth order.
How do the S$2,000 Child Credits work?
Child Credits are a cash benefit of S$2,000 per year, available from the year an eligible child turns 1 through the year the child turns 16.
For children turning 1 to 16 in 2026, their 2026 Child Credits will be paid by 30 April 2027.
From later years, payment timing moves toward the child’s birthday according to the transition schedule.
What happens to children already receiving Baby Bonus?
Children already enrolled in the Baby Bonus Scheme generally do not need a separate application for the transition.
For children born in 2015 or later and already enrolled, the transition will be automatic. Children born between 2010 and 2014 will also be automatically transitioned, while children born in 2009 will receive the applicable PSEA top-up.
What about children born before 1 April 2027?
Transitional benefits depend on the child’s date of birth.
For example, eligible Singapore Citizen children born between 1 January 2026 and 31 March 2027 may receive a top-up bringing the applicable Baby Gift support to S$10,000, annual Child Credits, the applicable CDA co-matching support and the later PSEA top-up.
Older children receive the parts of the package relevant to their age rather than retrospectively receiving every benefit from birth.
How will cash benefits be paid?
Package cash payouts will be sent to the bank account linked to the child’s PayNow ID, using the child’s NRIC or birth certificate number.
Parents are advised to have the child’s PayNow arrangement ready before 1 April 2027 to avoid delays.
The child’s PayNow ID should not be linked to the CDA, because the CDA is a ring-fenced account for approved expenses and its funds cannot simply be withdrawn as cash.
How do parents enrol?
For children born on or after 1 April 2027, enrolment can be completed through LifeSG as part of birth registration.
Children already participating in Baby Bonus will generally transition automatically rather than requiring parents to submit a completely new application.
